My Incredible Journey started 9 years ago at Incredible Kids Hilton where I held various positions including Nursery Nurse and Room Leader. I also covered maternity leave, on separate occasions, acting as Deputy Manager and Manager.
During my time as acting nursery manager for Hilton, the Ashby site began its build, after accepting the position as full-time manager at Ashby de la Zouch I began attending planning meetings for the layout and structure of the nursery building. Along with Samantha Corbin, the founder of Incredible Kids, we chose the interior designs for the children’s rooms and started the process of creating Incredible Kids Ashby which opened in July 2016 and has continued to grow ever since.
I currently hold a BTEC Level 5 diploma in Management and Leadership and have an NVQ level 3 CACHE diploma in Childcare and Education. I am extremely passionate about the nursery and the standards of childcare we offer. We choose high quality, passionate and dedicated staff members.
My role is to oversee the day-to-day running of the nursery and continuously implement new ideas and liaise with the staff to find ways to improve practice whilst building strong, positive relationships with the children and their families along the way.
My husband and I welcomed the safe arrival of our little boy, Teddy, in September and will be delighted to send him to Incredible Kids.
Here at Incredible Kids Ashby Day Nursery we are a 107-place nursery and offer:
The structure of our Baby Room is open plan and can accommodate children aged 12 weeks – 24months. It is uniquely and brilliantly designed into different areas including a safe crawl area for the babies and space to explore for the older ones. This ensures that all the children within the room are able to explore and develop.
With safety in mind, our Baby Room offers custom-made remote-controlled blinds (so no dangerous cords) and temperature control in each room, making our offering unique. We also provide Baby Wipes free of charge.
We have a Key Person system in which every child is allocated a Key Person. All of our furniture and resources are of high quality, purchased from Community Playthings.
The children are provided with a daily diary which staff complete every session to inform you of how your child has been during the day, what activities they have been doing and what they have eaten. All Staff will also ensure a full hand over takes place upon collection.
The ratio of Staff to children within this room is 1:3 to ensure the highest level of care for all children, and always time for lots of cuddles!
Our self-contained Baby Unit includes:
This room is a free-flowing unit with access to an outdoor area. The unique layout includes a safe moveable wall between the Toddler and Pre-School Rooms which allows for combined learning, sharing and extended play areas (we find this useful when organising our annual concerts and initiatives).
The Staff within this unit plan structured activities that are inviting and, age & stage appropriate following the guidelines of the Early Years Foundation Stage
The ratio of Staff to children within this room is 1:4 to ensure a high quality of care and enabling small group activities to take place.
We have a Key Person system in which every child is allocated a Key Person. At the end of the day a member of Staff will give you a full hand over of what activities your child has been taking part in, what they have eaten, if they have slept etc. This information will also be written in their daily diaries.
Our self-contained Toddler Unit includes:
We have a more structured routine within Pre-School including circle time, self-registration, small group activities etc.
We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage as a guide to plan age appropriate activities and next steps for each child.
Within Pre-School we begin to introduce school readiness and promote independence. During meal times we have self-service, and in a morning, we have self-registration.
We also offer “jolly phonics” sessions through songs and games.
Throughout the day your child will have access to a variety of adult led activities, in conjunction with free choice play, where they can choose what they wish to do/play with.
Pre-School has a fantastic free flow outside area which they can access throughout the day whenever they choose.
Each child will have a Key Person who will individually plan activities and next steps for them.
The ratio of Staff to children in this room is 1:8, this allows Staff to provide high quality care of small groups.
Our self-contained Pre-school Unit includes:
To complement our Baby, Toddler and Pre-School rooms, Incredible Kids also offer a self-contained Sensory Room.
The stimulating, soothing, colourful yet tranquil surroundings of our Sensory Room which is dedicated to children of all ages (even our staff love it) allows rich and varied experiences enabling the exploration of textures, lights and sounds using their senses (sight, smell, sound & touch).
Sensory play provides enormous benefits for children; such benefits include:
The staff at the nursery are fantastic and have made a huge contribution to his development, he will be very sad to leave when he starts school.
The nursery has great facilities we especially like the amazing outdoor area, that the children have access to in all weathers, he loves playing the mud kitchen. We also love that all the rooms within the nursery have a pet, something he doesn’t get to experience at home.
Our little boy started at Incredible kids in 2015 he absolutely loves nursery, and comes home talking about all the fun activities he’s taken part in, he loves to sit with us and look through the photos on the parents Facebook page telling us all about his day.
The staff are all so happy, friendly and go the extra mile to ensure your child is progressing and enjoying their time there. All the meals are cooked fresh, they’re healthy and meet my daughters dietary needs. My daughter always says she has a lovely day, and absolutely loves going.
I can honestly say Incredible kids is phenomenal. It’s purpose built, so they have a large open space for the children to play. Lots of free play as well as group activities. They have access to outside space as they wish, which is brilliant for my very physically active girl.
Our daughter has enjoyed her time at Incredible Kids, her confidence has grew so much since she has been there with the help of her keyworker and all the staff. She will miss you all; thank you so much for everything!

“I’ve had the pleasure of working at Incredible Kids Ashby since we opened. I enjoy helping the children to develop their taste buds, gain knowledge, and discover new foods. I also enjoy getting to know the children as individuals and developing a good rapport with them”Food at Incredible Kids
