The health, safety and security of our staff and children is paramount; to operate compliantly we adhere to all of our policies, which cover all aspects of Nursery life such as Safeguarding.

Here at Incredible Kids we have an extensive portfolio of policies and procedures, which Parent/Carers are welcome to examine.

Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Introduced in September 2007, the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is a statutory framework which sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five years old and is closely aligned with our own values.

At Incredible Kids nurseries everything we do is dedicated to providing the best possible care whilst stimulating exploration and learning, giving every child the opportunity to achieve their full potential. We embrace the individuality, efforts and achievement of all children and recognise that learning and development takes place during all activities as learning and play go hand in hand.

This is why our team carefully plan a range of experiences that encourage children to understand and explore the world around them, helping them in all areas of their development. From our amazing indoor and outdoor spaces to our fantastic resources that stimulate and engage babies, toddlers and Pre-Schoolers.

Our nursery team work in line with the guiding principles of the EYFS, but most importantly they work with you on your child’s progress as they learn to play, explore, create and think for themselves.

We follow the 7 Areas of Learning which are delivered through practical activities and active learning experiences both indoors and outdoors. The areas of learning are:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional Development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

Characteristics of Effective Learning

Children relate to people and things through the Characteristics of Effective Learning which are:

  • Playing and Exploring
  • Active Learning
  • Creating and Thinking Critically

We believe that a young child’s capacity to absorb information is a very valuable resource.
Here at Incredible Kids we feel that a firm and solid foundation built within the early years will enable more complex structures to be built in later life.


Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. Reporting directly to Parliament they inspect and regulate services which care and educate children.

All Incredible Kids Day Nurseries are registered with Ofsted who inspect and regulate to achieve excellence in the care of children and young people. Ofsteds’ reports are impartial and during their regulatory visits they inspect our nurseries to make sure that we support our children and deliver the aims of the EYFS framework .

Key Person

We understand that young children need familiar adults to depend upon for support, reassurance and comfort which is why the role of the Key person is very important as they will work along-side parents/carers to ensure that continuity of care is given. A Key Person must be qualified in either Level 2 or Level 3.

At Incredible Kids Day Nurseries, we are very proud of our Key Person approach where we assign an experienced key person to each child who joins our nursery so that they always have a dedicated, familiar adult whom they can trust available to them.

It’s a special role that involves responsibility for working with a small number of children giving them reassurance to feel safe and cared for. The key person also builds close bonds with Parent/Carers as we recognise that Parent/Carers are their children’s most important educators and work with us to encourage continued learning at home.

Our Key Person helps our babies and children become familiar with their settings and to feel confident and safe within them. They build a genuine bond with their children and offer a settled, close relationship, comfort and support.

We understand that when children feel happy, safe and secure in this way that they are confident to explore and try out new things.

Record Keeping

It’s really important, when your child is at nursery, that you are kept informed of their progress and feel involved in their day.

Our highly experienced and qualified staff always keep you informed of your child’s progress by recording their achievements, experiences and any other information in their own personal diary (such as identifying any gaps in individuals’ learning and forming a plan via Parent/Carer partnerships to monitor development).

We encourage Parent/Carers to contribute towards their child’s development through regular communication and exchanges of information. Parent/Carers’ information evenings are held twice a year and all Parent/Carers are encouraged to come into the nursery and talk to their child’s Key Person about their child’s learning and development.
This is also a good opportunity for Parent/Carers to raise any questions or concerns they may have regarding their child’s care or development.

Daily Record Keeping provides information on mealtimes, behaviour and progress and will be available for Parent/Carers at the end of each session. Parent/Carers are actively encouraged to participate in Parent/Carers Evenings, open days and special events with their child whilst they are at nursery. This helps Parent/Carers to feel involved, engage with the staff team and to have confidence in their child’s day care routine and development.

Extra-Curricular Activities

Hilton – Boogie Beats (Music & Movement)
Boogie Beats activity brings traditional stories to life through Music and Movement.
Combining the essential elements of early music education with dancing, role play, instruments and so much more!

Ashby – Forest School (Hands-on learning in a woodland environment)
Forest School is a unique educational experience and process that offers children the opportunity to succeed and develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in a woodland environment.

Children engage in motivating and achievable tasks and activities throughout the year and in almost all weathers. Children will work with tools, play, learn boundaries of behaviour; both physical and social, grow in confidence, self-esteem and motivation whilst developing an understanding of the natural world.

Ashby – Mini Professors (Fun Pre-School Science Classes for 2-4-year olds)
Mini Professors is a science programme that has been designed specifically for 2 to 5-year olds.
They make science classes fun and enjoyable for pre-school children which include experiments, stories and singing.
Incredible Kids love that they follow the Chinese proverb “Tell me and I forget. Show me and I remember. Involve me and I understand”.

Zoo Lab
ZooLab are all about working with animals to amaze, educate, inspire – and reach defined goals. In everything they do, animals are at the centre of things.Their rangers visit settings to provide animal handling experiences to children, bringing them closer to nature, and stimulate an interest in science, nature and learning
